About Chez Yurt

Glamping in South-West France

We moved from the UK to France like so many others in search of 'the good life'. We wanted to give our young son (and ourselves!) the freedom and adventure of rural life, to raise animals, and to grow our own organic fruit and veggies.

We have spent the past few years renovating our house, building a games room and cultivating some of the three acres of land that surround us. Owning a yurt has been the fulfilment of a long-held dream, and we have converted one of our barns to provide luxury facilities for our yurt-dwellers. The yurt was first used in the summer of 2011 when we hosted a mini music festival - it provided a beautiful space for therapies and storytelling.

Yurt Camping

The yurt, or ger, is a traditional Mongolian design with stunning painted woodwork, a varnished wood floor, and latticed walls. The yurt stays cool in the height of summer and cosy in Spring and Autumn thanks to its four layers – the inner cotton lining, the insulating felt layer, the waterproof canvas, and the outer decorative cover. The yurt is 6m in diameter, allowing it comfortably to accommodate a full-size double bed and two full-size single beds plus additional furniture.

The yurt sits under a beautiful old oak tree with uninterrupted views across the valley. We live on site and will be on hand to offer advice, feed the animals and maintain the swimming pool etc; however, you will have peace, privacy and exclusive use of the yurt, sun terrace and La Petite Grange.
